Whoa, whoa, whoa...okay, truthfully, I don't know any of you, but I wandered here as I followed a "Harlan County" link. So, Harlan isn't a metropolis with a lot of cultural opportunities (although that can be argued), it's a FINE place. A truly fine place. I grew up there, moved away, and can't seem to let it go. As a writer, many of my stories are about the people and places in Harlan and Eastern Kentucky, and let me say...there are some TRUE characters in those hills! But waking up on misty mornings as the fog rises from the mountains, listening to the orchestra of wildlife outside the window...these things endure one to that place, despite all its warts and uglies. So, needless to say, I am of that place, and try as one may, that little part of my soul could never be exorcised! :-) Hold onto it, Mari!
